Philosophy of Instructional Planning
It is my belief that thorough planning is essential to successful lessons. I believe in a backwards planning model in which I develop lessons with the final assessment in mind. This allows me to guide the students toward a final goal in a more organized manner. Taking time to plan thoroughly and thoughtfully is necessary, and I believe that having a backup plan is always a good idea. I always want my lessons to be lead by the student's interest and desire to learn, so a backup plan helps ensure that I am prepared for any detours the students might take on their way to the goal. Planning should also include real world performance tasks that enable the students to see how their learning can apply to their real lives.
